Do Most Clients Need Both CAMS and KFintech?

Yes. CAMS and KFintech are the two RTAs (Registrar & Transfer Agents) for the Indian mutual fund industry. Different AMCs use different RTAs:

  • CAMS: HDFC, ICICI Prudential, SBI, Nippon India, Axis, Mirae Asset, and others
  • KFintech: Kotak, Franklin Templeton, DSP, Tata, PGIM, and others

A client who holds funds from both CAMS and KFintech AMCs needs both statements. Upload both to FirstReports — it automatically merges them with the equity P&L statements from broker platforms into one consolidated tax report.

How to Consolidate Reports from Multiple Brokers

Once you have downloaded all reports, the next step is merging them. Each broker uses a different column format, different segment labels, and different cost accounting methods. Doing this manually in Excel for even 5 clients takes hours.

FirstReports automates this: upload all files for a client (across all brokers and RTAs), and the platform produces a single consolidated STCG / LTCG / F&O / Intraday statement — with the exact figures needed for Schedule CG, Schedule 112A, and the charges deduction in ITR-2 or ITR-3.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Indian brokers provide a downloadable capital gains / Tax P&L statement for FY 2025-26?

All major Indian brokers offer a downloadable report: Zerodha (console.zerodha.com → Tax P&L), Groww (Profile → Reports → Tax), Angel One (My Account → P&L → Tax P&L), Upstox (Reports → P&L), ICICI Direct (My Account → Reports → Tax Reports), HDFC Securities (My Portfolio → Reports → Capital Gains Statement), Kotak Securities, Motilal Oswal, Paytm Money, Sharekhan, SBI Securities, Dhan, Fyers, 5paisa, Nuvama, Finvasia (Shoonya), Alice Blue, and Geojit. For mutual funds, use CAMS and KFintech.

Do I need to download separately from CAMS and KFintech for mutual funds?

Yes. Broker platforms do not include mutual fund capital gains — those come from the two RTAs. CAMS covers HDFC, ICICI Prudential, SBI, Nippon India, and Axis funds. KFintech covers Kotak, Franklin Templeton, DSP, Tata, and PGIM. A client with funds from both groups needs both statements.

What date range should I set when downloading capital gains reports for FY 2025-26?

Set the date range as 01-Apr-2025 to 31-Mar-2026. Most broker portals also offer a financial year dropdown where you can select "FY 2025-26" directly.

What is the difference between CAMS and KFintech capital gains statements?

They cover different AMCs but have the same purpose: reporting mutual fund redemption capital gains. CAMS covers roughly 60% of AUM in the industry (HDFC, ICICI Pru, SBI, Nippon, Mirae, Axis), KFintech covers the rest (Kotak, Franklin, DSP, Tata, PGIM). The format differs slightly but both are Excel-based.

How do I consolidate capital gains from multiple brokers for ITR filing?

After downloading all reports, the key challenge is normalising the data — each broker uses different column names, segment labels, and cost accounting notes. The quickest route: upload all files to FirstReports, which auto-detects each broker's format, merges all trades into a single ledger, and outputs consolidated STCG / LTCG / F&O / Intraday figures ready for Schedule CG and Schedule 112A in ITR-2 or ITR-3.

Can I use broker capital gains reports directly to fill ITR-2?

For single-broker clients, yes — the STCG/LTCG totals and lot-level details can be entered directly into Schedule CG and Schedule 112A. For multi-broker clients, the totals must be consolidated first. Always reconcile broker reports against the AIS (Annual Information Statement) on the IT portal before filing — discrepancies trigger scrutiny notices.
